Multiplication is used in many branches of math as a main tool for problem solving such as calculus, algebra, equations etc. It is an element of four basic operations of arithmetic. Multiplication of two numbers is the repeated addition of a whole number. When we perform multiplication arithmetic operation on two or more numbers, the result is called a product. **Example:**

When we say multiply 2 by 3, it means we can repeatedly add the number 2 by 3 times to get the result.

**3 x 2 s= 2 + 2 + 2 = 6**

It is also read as 3 times 2. Now, 3 is the **MULTIPLIER** and 2 is the MULTIPLICAND. Whereas both 3 and 2 are called factors and their result (12) is the **PRODUCT.**

Also write as

Factor x factor = Product

Multiplier x Multiplicand = Product

When we multiply 3 by 2. We add 3 by 2 times to get the answer. The answer will be same as for multiply 2 x 3. This type of property is called commutative property of multiplication.

2 x 3 = 3 + 3 = 6

Multiplication is denoted by a sign ‘x’ or a dot ‘.’

By adding 11 by 8 times

8 x 11 = 88

First of all multiple 2 by 7 6 3

2 x 7 6 3 = 7 6 3 + 7 6 3 = 1 5 2 6

Now multiply 5 by 7 6 3

5 x 7 6 3 = 7 6 3 + 7 6 3 + 7 6 3 + 7 6 3 + 7 6 3 = 3 8 1 5
